racism or xenophobia
quite a stir (and probably in some dismay) has attracted Bersani's statement that says not to consider the League racist.
I too believe that the vast majority of the members of the League of the base, the common people, is NOT racist. For 35 years I have lived in the Veneto, and frankly I have not met any of razzizta. Xenfobi and many of you, however, also in PD and in the center-left and left, unfortunately.
Moreover, if we refer to the definition of racism taken from Wikipedia: "In its simplest definition for racism is defined as the preconceived belief that the human species is subdivided into biologically distinct races characterized by different physical features and different intellectual capacities, and the resulting idea that you can determine a hierarchy of values \u200b\u200bthat a particular breed can be defined as "above" or "inferior" to another, "I do not think that the majority of farmers in the valleys of the Lombardy-Veneto and culturally equipped to process concentti so complicated.
Perhaps they will fit better the definition of xnofobia, still recovering from Wikipedia: "The xenophobia (from the greek ξενοφοβία, xenophobia, or" fear of difference "made ξένος, xenos," strange, unusual and φόβος, phobos, " fear ") is the fear of what is distinct in nature, race or species. Sometimes this attitude does not stop at simple fear but amounts to a real intolerance and discrimination towards the object of their fear.
The term is typically used to describe fear or dislike of what is foreign, racism is now wrongly considered by many as a form of xenophobia, as well as prejudice and homophobia. Xenophobia, in turn, is now wrongly considered racism. The fear is different, different religion, race or nationality does not necessarily mean racism. Be afraid or scared does not mean less to consider. The Greek derivation of the word it is the correct interpretation, now expanded by the media, especially in cases of political partisanship. "
Mind you that Bersani said that the League are not racist. He did not say that they are not xenophobic, that is another thing. And xenophobia is widespread, even in your and my party.
